NEW YORK—New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony suffered a hyper-extended left knee during a Monday practice and was listed as day-to-day by the NBA club.
Anthony ran into a teammate while playing defense and fell to the court. He stayed down briefly then rose and walked to the training room. He did not return to the workout session.
Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said that Anthony’s injury was not serious.
It was only the second full practice session for the Knicks since they gathered to begin pre-season workouts for the upcoming lockout-shortened season that begins on December 25.
The Knicks play their first of two pre-season exhibition games at New Jersey on Saturday.
Anthony enters the campaign coming off surgery on knee and elbow injuries.
