Perpetual Help tests St. Benilde spikers

MANILA, Philippines—Pushed to the limit in its last outing, University of Perpetual Help tries to pull off a convincing win this time against the struggling St. Benilde in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Sandra delos Santos, Honey Rose Tubino and Janice Abar lead the Lady Altas’ charge against the Lady Blazers in one of the triple-bill between the two schools starting with the juniors team at 8 a.m.

Still unbeaten in five outings, the Lady Altas, this season’s hosts, are coming off an arduous 28-26, 25-17, 16-25, 22-25, 15-12 (3-2) victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College.

In the other women’s match, six-time champion San Sebastian hopes to get over its erratic showing against Lyceum in another three-division showdown between the two schools starting at 1 p.m.

The Lady Stags and the Lady Pirates share a 2-2 record.

With coach Roger Gorayeb back in the sidelines, the Lady Stags wrapped up a quick three-setter, 25-14-, 25-15, 25-11, against Mapua.

Gorayeb and his wards recently figured in a melee with San Beda’s basketball team where the multititled volleyball mentor sustained injuries.
