Chris Ross’ recovery nearing a ‘hundred percent’

San Miguel is once again embarking on a quest for that elusive PBA Grand Slam and point guard Chris Ross is not missing it for the world.

Though he is still recovering from a strained right thigh, Ross is working overtime to return to top form as the four-peat seeking Beermen face a tough challenger in Magnolia.

“I’m getting closer to a hundred percent,” said Ross durng the pre-finals press conference Wednesday. “I went to practice today and I felt pretty good, so we’ll see. I’m going to get treatment after this and I’ll get treatment again tomorrow.”

Ross injured his right thigh in the third game of San Miguel’s semifinals series against Barangay Ginebra, but he defied the but he defied orders from his coaches and team physicians and suited up in Games 5 and 6.

Despite playing in pain, Ross was able to average eight points in 13 minutes per game during Games 4 and 5 and was crucial in helping the Beermen advance to the finals.

Ross expects that he would be in peak condition as the series against the Hotshots, who have some of the best guards in the league in their roster, unfold.

“For Friday, I should be ready, and I know at some point in the series I’ll be a hundred percent,” said Ross. “I’m slowly getting there, but my recovery is going maybe ahead of schedule. That’s good news for me that my body’s healing.”
