China out to dominate Tagaytay chess tourney

China will try to assert its dominance against host Philippines and other regional teams in the Asian Universities Chess Championship set May 26 to June 2 at Tagaytay International Convention Center.

In the 2015 Asian Universities Chess Championship in Beijing, the Chinese teams ruled both men’s and women’s divisions.
Indonesian Grandmaster Susanto Megaranto won the individual title in the nine-round Swiss System event.
There will be men’s, women’s and junior divisions for both individual and team competitions.
The tournament is organized by the City of Tagaytay under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines .
Fide (international chess federation) and NCFP Secretary General and Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino Jr. said each federation may send as many university teams and individual players, but only one national student team.
