Harmie seeks 2nd title as Ph Jr Am tees off
Harmie Constantino hopes to buck a strong cast and the heat as she guns for a second straight crown in the Philippine Junior Amateur Golf Championship beginning on Tuesday at Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martires, Cavite.
Constantino bested a crack field to rule the WExpress RVF Cup in Canlubang in February.
But a slew of local and Korean challengers will be out to foil her bid, including Cebu’s Weifang Gao and Junia Gabasa, Nicole Abelar, Sofia Legaspi, Monica Mandario and Kayla Nocum.
Article continues after this advertisementA down-to-the-wire finish is also seen in the boys’ side with Paolo Wong, Luis Castro, Carl Corpus and Weiyu Gao expected to figure prominently.
National hockey team out to extend winning run
The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Philippine ice hockey team slugs it out with some of the best in the region in the Challenge Cup of Asia unfolding Tuesday at SM Skating Mall of Asia in Pasay.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Filipinos, winners in the inaugural ice hockey event of last year’s Malaysia SEA Games, will draw inspiration from the local crowd in the five-nation, six-day event.
“We are very proud to host for the first time the Challenge Cup of Asia,” said Chris Sy, Federation of Ice Hockey Philippines president.
Team PH kicks off its bid against Thailand on Tuesday, before tackling Kuwait on April 5, Mongolia on April 6 and Singapore on April 8. All PH games are scheduled at 7 p.m.
