Cedric de Joya came up big in the clutch as Batangas-EAC pulled off an 89-87 upset over pacesetter Centro Escolar University on Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at Pasig Sports Center.
The diminutive guard accounted for seven of the Generals’ last seven points, including the go-ahead triple that gave his side an 87-85 lead with 42.3 seconds left.
Cedric Ablaza split his freebies in the ensuing possession which gave the Scorpions a glimmer of hope, but Joseph Manlangit’s jumper in the last 10.6 ticks was ruled as a long two instead of a three.
“At least our preparation materialized,” said EAC coach Ariel Sison, whose team rose to 2-8. “We’re happy that we were able to recover.” —RANDOLPH B. LEONGSON, INQUIRER.NET
