Globalport releases ‘unhappy’ Terrence
Three-time PBA scoring champion Terrence Romeo will be suiting up for a different team for the first time since he was drafted five years ago when the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup gets going on April 22.
Following a tumultuous stint with GlobalPort in the Philippine Cup playoffs, the Batang Pier shipped their high-scoring yet disgruntled guard to TNT
KaTropa in a trade approved by the league on Tuesday.
Center Yousef Taha will also join the KaTropa, who sent former 6-foot-7 top pick Mo Tautuaa to the Batang Pier along with their 2020 first round pick and 2021 second round pick.
“It’s sad to let go one of the hottest players in the land, but we will not stand in the way of one’s desire and happiness,” said GlobalPort team manager Bonnie Tan. “So with a heavy heart, we are trading our top star. This is a win-win solution for us and the camp of Terrence.”
“We have so much respect for the guy, but we, as a team, must also move on toward our main goal which is to get better.”

Romeo, picked fifth in 2013 by the Batang Pier, will also link up with coach Nash Racela, also his coach at Far Eastern U.
Interestingly, KaTropa will open its Commissioner’s Cup campaign against the Batang Pier in the main game of the import-laced tournament’s opener at Smart Araneta Coliseum based on the schedule released by the league.
