After a whirlwind start to the year, Ricci Rivero has ended the drama and finally bid La Salle goodbye.
In a short post on his Twitter account, the high-flying swingman announced his decision to leave the Green Archers on Thursday.
“All good things come to an end. Thank You to the La Sallian community for the support you’ve given me. The Animo spirit will always be with me. Its now time to move forward,” he wrote.
This ends Rivero’s two-year stin in La Salle, where he emerged as a solid star in his sophomore season after averaging 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals this past UAAP Season 80.
However, he was cut from the team early this year alongside brother Prince Rivero and Brent Paraiso following a new school guideline regarding endorsement deals.
La Salle clarified that though the three were suspended, they were still enrolled in Taft.
The 20-year-old also broke his silence on rumors regarding his alleged drug use and involvement in gay benefactors, issuing a lengthy statement last month.
Though Rivero did not disclose where he will go to next, talks of him joining former coach Aldin Ayo in UST is gaining steam, though there are still a handful of schools trying to secure his services.
If he indeed makes a transfer to another UAAP school, the earliest he can return to the court is on UAAP Season 82 in 2019.
