Slot in FIVB World Tour at stake in BVR national championships

Beach Volleyball Republic On Tour heads to Dagupan’s Tondaligan Beach for the national championships this weekend.

Thirty two teams in the men’s and women’s division will vie for the national title and a chance to represent the Philippines in the 2018 FIVB World Tour in Manila on May 3 to 6.

Ato Ni Bai’s Calvin Sarte and Jade Becaldo lead the men’s contingent with Tigers’ Henry Pecana and KR Guzman.

The Philippine Air Force also fielded teams in the tournament with Rommel Pepito and Ranran Abdilla being Air Force 1 and the partnership of Howard Mojica and Edwin Tolentino representing Air Force 2.

Tagum-PNP’s Karen Quilario and Lourdilyn Catubag are set to defend their title in the women’s division against the likes of Charo Soriano and Bea Tan of Seafront Residences, Air Force 1’s Judy Caballejo and Coyah Abanto, Wakanda’s Dzi Gervacio and Kassle Gormley.

The winners for both division will win P50,000 with the second and third placers receiving P25,000 and P15,000, respectively.

There will also be a “sandroots” workshop for the local residents of Dagupan with Alyssa Valdez serving as one of the coaches.

“We are looking forward to an intense National Championship showdown in Dagupan since whoever wins will get to represent our country in the coming 2018 FIVB World Tour,” said Tan, who is one of the co-founders of BVR.

“Also, we are excited for the ‘Sandroots’ workshop with Alyssa since this will help in our goal of growing the sport in the country,” BVR co-founder Bea Tan said.”
