And now it’s down to one.

Far Eastern University just clinched the third seat in the Final Four after scoring a five-set win over Adamson University, 25-22, 25-27, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Tamaraws’ win gave them an 8-4 record and the position where they could just lounge around at the stable third seed or pursue two more wins to get a crack at one of the top two seeds.

For Bernadeth Pons and Bernadeth Guino-o, they definitely want the latter.

“The Final Four isn’t enough, especially for me because this is my last playing year,” said Pons, who led FEU with 22 points, in Filipino Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena. “This is my last chance to get to the finals, and we want to get that twice-to-beat advantage.”

“This is a big deal for our team if we can get one of the top two spots in the standings,” added Pons who, for five years, watched the duopoly of Ateneo and La Salle own the championship rounds.

The Lady Tamaraws will enter the Final Four for the fourth straight time and in all those occasions FEU got into the semifinals either as the third or fourth seed.

This time around, the ladies in green-and-gold are not going to settle for less.

“We’re sick of the word ‘almost’ so it’s time we take this,” said Guino-o, who had 12 points against the Lady Falcons. “We know we can become a top two team and we will claim it.”
