Batangas first to make finals
Batangas City-Tanduay overpowered a shorthanded Valenzuela-Yulz squad, 89-64, to punch its ticket to the finals even as Muntinlupa-Angelis Resort kept its title bid alive in the MPBL-Anta Rajah Cup at Muntinlupa Sports Center on Saturday.
The Athletics, who only have one loss so far in the tournament, pulled away in the second half to complete a sweep of their best-of-three semifinal series against the fourth seed Classic.
“I was confident about our chances,” said Batangas coach Mac Tan. “Everyday, we’ve been working hard. If we have misunderstandings, we communicate.”
Later, ex pro Chito Jaime dished out a monster performance as the Cagers lived to fight another day with a 66-56 triumph over Parañaque Patriots-Gamboa Coffee that tied their series. The rubber match is set on Tuesday in Muntinlupa.
