Silva aspires to give Giga hitters a win

For a team that has yet to win a single game in the league, Smart Prepaid sure has a lot of people wanting to see it play.

That’s because of scoring beast Gyselle Silva who just scored a league-best 56 points when the Giga Hitters dropped a five-set decision to the Cocolife Asset Managers.

But for Smart coach Ronald Dulay, Silva’s job is not complete until they win a game in the Chooks-To-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix.

The Cuban spiker, whose 56 points in a single game ranked her among the best players who saw action in the country, gets the chance to do that when Smart takes on Sta. Lucia Realty on Thursday at FilOil Flying V Centre.

“I want to inspire my team to win and I will do whatever it takes to lead my team,” the shy 26-year-old Spanish-speaking open hitter said through Dulay.

Dulay added: “She’s very focused in training and actual games so I’m not discounting the possibility that she can either match it (56 points) or even surpass it in the new few games.”

“But her main goal is give us a victory,” added Dulay, who served as one of assistant coaches of Foton before taking on the job to mentor the low-key, inexperienced Giga Hitters.
