Isabela native David Malgapo bucked the ill-effects of a broken arm he suffered in February to steal the thunder from Bulakeño Wenson Reyes in the second leg of the Mayor Christian Natividad mini motocross series at Malolos Sports and Convention race track.

Despite lack of practice due to his injury, Malgapo took the holeshot against Reyes, whose bid to duplicate his win in the first leg, turned into a nightmare when he made a wrong turn in the first corner.

Malgapo surged ahead never to look back as Reyes, egged on by his provincemates, needed to salvage second place at the expense of Zan Mamaril in the race for riders 12 years old and below.

As a result, both Malgapo and Reyes will vie for overall race supremacy in the third and final leg slated on Saturday.
