Buoyed by its memorable 2-1 win over Tajikistan late last month, the Philippines vaulted to its highest ever position of No. 113 in the latest rankings released by the International Football Federation (Fifa).
The Azkals, whose previous high was at No. 116 set on April 2016, collected 289 points in the past month to jump nine places ahead of the draw for the AFC Asian Cup on May 4 in Dubai.
“I’m happy that our efforts to improve the team has translated to a higher ranking,” Azkals manager Dan Palami said.
