Ceres-Negros unscathed

Picking up from where it left off in the AFC Cup, reigning champion Ceres-Negros streaked to a second straight win in the 2018 Philippines Football League with a 3-0 crushing of JPV Marikina on Saturday night at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Japanese striker Takumi Uesato tormented his former team with a brace, while Bienve Marañon was also on the scoresheet in the second half for the Busmen, who are on top, just ahead of JPV on goal difference.

It was the second straight win for the Busmen after starting the season with a 2-1 win over Kaya Iloilo at home last April 6.

JPV, which opened the season with back to back victories, suffered a second straight defeat.

The Ceres victory came just three nights after the Busmen’s 4-0 conquest of Cambodian side Boeung Ket in Phnom Penh in the AFC Cup where they are currently unbeaten as they close in on the knockout stage.

Over at Biñan Football Stadium, Stallion Laguna fought back from a goal down in the first half as it stunned Kaya Iloilo, 3-1.
