Sato runaway champion of Sta. Lucia Interclub

Jufil Sato of the Turbocharger team set himself apart from the field with a sterling 103-point performance to emerge as runaway Class A champion in the individual competition of the recent Sta. Lucia Interclub golf tournament at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club course in Mandug Indangan, Davao.

Starting strong with 49 points, Sato completed the job by posting a tournament-high 54 points for a 36-hole aggregate of 103 and left the other players battling for second place in the event staged by Sta. Lucia Realty Development Inc. for members of clubs flying its banner nationwide.

The Japinos represented by members of the Alta Vista club in Cebu dominated the seniors action with the 1-2-3 finish of Mashisa Kawakami (93 points), Victor Gocela (86) and Roy Damole (83).

The Japinos also took the team title and joined hands with Hapakeros de Cebu (Group 3), Los Guapitos (Group 2) and Rerax (Group 1) for a clean sweep by Alta Vista members of the team events.

Korean Red Heroes clinched two individual wins through Ho Bong-kang in Class B and Young Hea-jun in Class D, while Norberto Badenas of Royal Trojans claimed Class C in the event that featured participants from Eagle Ridge and Orchard of Cavite, Royale Tagaytay, Beverly Place of Pampanga, Alta Vista of Cebu, Summit Point of Batangas, Lake Caliraya Springs and host Rancho Palos Verdes of Davao.

Sato won by 10 points over Enrico Solon of Rerax, Ho edged Jaime Tan Sr. of Pomelo Verde A and Demy Monedero of Green Seeker in the countback after all three finished in a three-way tie at 96, Badenas (86) beat Gilbert Ruetas of Summit Ridge by three, and Young (67) nipped Lilibeth Crisologo of D’Builders by one.
