Hoping to make up for lost time, NLEX is bringing in Adrian Forbes to replace Arnett Moultrie as its reinforcement for the upcoming 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Road Warriors coach Yeng Guiao said the decision to make the change was due to the incessant delay of Moultrie’s arrival to the country.
“Our biggest problem is our import couldn’t come in time, so we’re hoping the substitute will come in tomorrow so we can practice with him by Sunday afternoon. We’ll use that rest of the time to just acclimatize him and jell him with the team until our Saturday game,” said Guiao.
Forbes, 29, last played in Pueblo Nuevo in Dominican Republic and averaged 21.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks where he was named as the Defensive Player of the Year. He also had stints in France, Japan, and Bahrain.
Moultrie faced problems in Bahrain which stopped him from flying in and joining NLEX when it returned to training camp in early April.
The door, though, is still open for Moultrie to play for NLEX as the team with Forbes’ performance in its first three games still up for evaluation.
“We will evaluate Adrian Forbes and see if we will need to make a replacement later on. Three games should be enough to know if we want to replace or stay with the import,” Guiao said.
