FEU clobbers Arellano for first Filoil win
Far Eastern University hammered Arellano, 74-65, for its first win in the 2018 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Hubert Cani lit up with 15 points, three assists, and two rebounds as he sparked the Tamaraws in the final minutes to grab their first win in the summer tournament.
Despite coming off with the victory, FEU coach Olsen Racela said that there’s still a lot to be desired with how is team is performing.
“We’re going in their pace. I told them that I don’t care about the result or the score as long as we’re doing things right. But the problem was we’re not doing the things that we’re doing in practice. At the start, we’re ok, but in the end, we’re going on our own ways,” he said.
FEU blew the game wide open in the second quarter, taking a 47-24 lead at halftime before Arellano slowly cut the lead to a more respectable margin.
