Terrence Romeo is still trying to regain his olf form after a knee injury kept him out for nearly the entire Philippine Cup.
And Romeo’s lack of basketball activity after playing in just his third game this season showed in his much-awaited TNT debut in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“I’m still really not in shape and that’s been my problem even during our tuneup games,” Romeo admitted in Filipino after the KaTropa’s 128-114 win over the GlobalPort Batang Pier. “I still pace myself because I tire easily unlike before where I play with such intensity and energy from start to finish.”
Romeo finished with 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field, three assists and five turnovers in 27 minutes against his former team.
The 26-year-old guard had a poor start, scoring only five points in the first three quarters and sloppy finish, committing three straight turnovers late in the game before he was subbed out with still 2:53 to go.
KaTropa coach Nash Racela, however, felt Romeo was able to perform and deliver what was expected from him considering he just came back from injury.
“It’s acceptable. Again, this is just Terrence’s [third] game coming from semi retirement he was out for a whole conference so obviously, if you really look at it, he’s still not yet in good playing shape, his timing is still off,” Racela said.”He did what we expected him to do.”
