Filipino bowling sensation Krizziah Tabora would rather forget about her campaign in the Philippine International Open last year.
But that same forgettable outing is also her motivation to have a memorable performance in the second edition of the Tenpin Bowling Championships beginning on Saturday.
“I didn’t do well last year so I’m hoping to do much better this time,” Tabora, who was joined by Philippine Bowling Federation officials Bong Coo and Steve Robles during the PSA Forum on Tuesday, told INQUIRER.net in Filipino.
Tabora, who rose to prominence after winning the 53rd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Champions in Mexico last year, is bracing for a stiff competition as she goes up against some of her Asian rivals and world’s best bowlers.
“It’s a really tough field, but we all trained very hard for this to win,” she said.
Coo, a four-time Tenpin world champion, said the Philippine Open is also part of the national team buildup for the 2018 Asian Games in August which will be staged in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.
“It’s going to be a busy year for us as we begin our preparations for the Asian Games,” Coo said.
Robles hopes that Tabora’s success in the Bowling World Cup is just the beginning of Philippine bowling’s resurgence.
