Defending champion F2 Logistics and Petron are looking to wrap up their respective semifinal series on Thursday in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at Filoil Flying V Center.
But not if Foton and Cocolife can help it.
The Cargo Movers and the Blaze Spikers both hold a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three series against the Tornadoes and the Asset Managers, respectively.
Late Tuesday, F2 Logistics outlasted Foton, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22. But from the looks of it, Foton is poised for revenge, and the Cargo Movers coach, Arnold Laniog, is well aware of the threat.
“It’s still a long way to go,” said Laniog. “We’re studying the stats and it was a very close match if not for their errors. They are taller and stronger so we have to make some minor adjustments.”
Topping his battle plan is how to contain Jaja Santiago and Channon Thompson at the attack zone.
The Blaze Spikers withstood the Asset Managers, 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, also last Tuesday, after managing to hold off Serbian heavy scorers Marta Drpa and Sara Klisura.
Cocolife put the match under protest because of a rotation error committed by Petron setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
But PSL later upheld the decision with a pledge to improve officiating and suspend the two referees who called the match.
