Paula Cayanan top Coseteng tanker
MANILA, Philippines—Paula Cayanan collected three gold medals while posting a quadruple A standard time to emerge as the most outstanding tanker in the Nikki Coseteng Swim Championships at the Rizal Memorial pool over the weekend.
The 12-year-old standout from the Joey Andaya Swim Team ruled the 11-12 girls’ 100-meter backstroke as well as the 200-m and 50-m freestyle.
Highlighting Cayanan’s remarkable feat in the 17th leg of the Philippine Swim League (PSL) was her quadruple A standard time of 28.59 seconds in the 50m free. Cayanan also bagged a silver in the 200m individual medley.
Article continues after this advertisement“She (Cayanan) has a lot of potential,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
Sharing the limelight with Cayanan was 16-year-old Kevin Claveria who ruled two events.
Claveria, a student at the Diliman Preparatory School, clocked 2:07.47 to reign supreme in the 200-m free and 1:01.10 in the 100-m fly.
