Cuisiners lean on PH bowler, rule PBF-PIO Corp Cup event

National team mainstay Alexis Sy and veteran bowler Bonnie Solis led Cuisiners 1 to the pinnacle of success in the Corporate Cup of the Philippine Bowling Federation’s Philippine International Open 2018.

Sy, a member of the women’s team that snared silver in the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games last year, rolled a series of 629 pinfalls while Solis had a combined effort of 645 for the team’s tournament-best of 2,361 pinfalls.

Also delivering for the Cuisiners were Lorenz Tugade (571) and Benny Tuazon (516).

Chester King and his CSS Image Design quartet had a solid performance with 2,353, just a few pins off the champion. King rolled 651, Sofia Ong added 579 while Julius Sy and Wilson Hernandez chipped in a series of 570 and 553.

Placing third overall in the 36-team, one-day tournament was Nobleland (2,307), which leaned heavily on national bowler Bea Hernandez’s 661 and Adrian Jimeno’s 586.

The Corporate Cup served as appetizer to the PBF-PIO where over 300 local bowlers aim to qualify for the main event featuring participants from nine other countries vying in the men’s and women’s Open categories.

ABC-Boysen wound up fourth (2,297) with National squad standout Liza del Rosario rolling 685.
