Fernandez: You won’t see Gilas Cadets’ full capabilities this early
The Gilas Cadets’ stint in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup did not start the way they hoped it would.
In the three games the Cadets played, all have ended in defeats in one form and another.
Gilas’ latest loss was against 22-time NCAA champion San Beda with the Red Lions humbling the Cadets 91-70 Sunday at Filloil Flying V Centre.
Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez, however, showed no doubt on the Cadets’ capabilities.
“You won’t see their strength and full capabilities this early,” said Fernandez, who once suited up for the Philippines back in the 90s.
Gilas, which is at the bottom of Group A, first loss to Ateneo in the opener, 75-69, then dropped its second game against La Salle, 91-72, after blowing a 41-21 lead.
The Cadets’ 21-point loss to the Red Lions bumped their losing average to 15.3 points.
