Inexperience played a major factor in Far Eastern University’s sweep at the hands of La Salle in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball Finals.

But the same cannot be said for the Lady Tamaraws next season after making their first finals appearance in 10 years.

“Experience is a big thing and our experience this season will help us improve,” said FEU head coach George Pascua, who took the team to the championship round in just his first year at the helm, in Filipino.

FEU claimed the No. 2 with a 10-4 record at the end of the elimination round before knocking off Ateneo in the Final Four.

The Lady Tamaraws never won a set in their two games against the Lady Spikers in the finals, but they had nothing to be ashamed of with the kind of effort they showed.

“I’m very proud of the players. They fought up to their last breath and never gave up,” Pascua said.

FEU did not go down without a fight despite facing a La Salle team that has made the finals for the past 10 seasons and for that alone, skipper Bernadeth Pons can live with the results.

“I’m happy with what we achieved this year. I’m proud of the team for reaching the finals,” Pons, who scored a team-high 17 points in her final UAAP game, said in Filipino.

“Hopefully, this experience will be a stepping stone for the remaining players to bounce back. I’m proud because we fought until the end.”
