Newsome to defend his PBA Slam Dunk title

Chris Newsome will be the heavy favorite returns to defend his throne in the Slam Dunk Contest of the 2018 PBA All-Star.

The Meralco high-flyer will be facing stiff competition on May 25 in Batangas City as he takes on seven of the best dunkers in the league today.

Three-time champion Rey Guevarra seeks to reclaim the title he lost last year as the Phoenix forward eyes crown number four.

Also heavy favorites for the competition are Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser of San Miguel.

Young bloods will also pepper the contest with Marion Magat of Alaska, Jackson Corpuz of Columbian, and rookies Renz Palma of Blackwater and Lervin Flores of GlobalPort rounding out the participants.

Aside from the Slam Dunk Contest, other side events like the Obstacle Challenge and the Three-Point Shootout will be held in Batangas City before the game between the Luzon All-Stars and Gilas Pilipinas.
