Petron import Lindsay Stalzer was named Philippine Superliga Grand Prix MVP for the second time in four years, becoming the league’s first two-time MVP.
Fittingly, it was Stalzer who helped lead the Blaze Spikers in dethroning the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in Game 3 to claim the 2018 Grand Prix crown.
Stalzer scored 24 as she and fellow American reinforcement Katherine Bell combined for 52 points in the title clincher.
Despite her brilliance especially in the finale, Stalzer refused to take all the credit and instead shared the glory with her teammates.
“I was also the first import to stay in five seasons. Tonight, I didn’t feel like i deserve it for the game. Tonight my teammates deserve to be the MVP,” Stalzer told reporters. “But I feel so honored.”
The 33-year-old Stalzer also bagged the MVP plum and Grand Prix crown in 2015 when she was still with the Foton Tornadoes.
Individual awards
Five players from F2 Logistics took home individual awards namely MJ Perez (2nd Best Outside Spiker), Aby Maraño (Best Middle Blocker), Kim Fajardo (Best Setter), Kennedy Bryan (2nd Best Opposite Spiker) and Minami Yoshioka (Best Libero).
The other awardees were Cocolife’s Sara Klisura (Best Outside Spiker), Petron’s Mika Reyes (2nd Best Middle Blocker), Foton’s Elizabeth Wendel (Best Opposite Spiker) and Foton’s Katarina Vukomanovic (2nd Best Libero).
