National University finally claimed its first win in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup, trouncing Emilio Aguinaldo College, 96-84, Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Chino Mosqueda poured 18 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting from the field, while also grabbing five rebounds and four assists to spearhead the balanced attack for the Bulldogs.

John Lloyd Clemente added 17 points, eight boards, and three dimes, Shaun Ildefonso got 13, and brother Dave Ildefonso had 11.

Senegalese big man Issa Gaye also uncorked a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

“We have to continue improving. We played well against San Beda, UP, and Mapua, but we failed to sustain it. I hope my young players mature fast because we have the talent to do so,” said coach Jamike Jarin, as his side rose to 1-3 in Group A.

NU raced to a 24-16 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back as it cashed in on EAC’s 18 turnovers and turned it to 20 points in its favor.

JP Maguliano carried the Generals with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, while Jerome Garcia had 15.

EAC remained winless after three straight defeats.
