MANILA, Philippines—Sustaining their sharp forms, Adamson’s men and women’s volleyball teams scored a twin kill Wednesday in the UAAP Season 74 tournaments at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Falcons notched their second straight victory with a 25-23, 25-16, 25-15 smashing of the University of the Philippines Maroons.

Ron Jay Galang continued his solid play, firing 16 points, three days after his 32-point performance in the stunning win over erstwhile unbeaten Far Eastern U.

The Lady Falcons endured a tougher outing, needing five sets to repulse National U, 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-10, 15-9.

The Lady Falcons’ fourth win in six starts boosted them to solo third spot behind unbeaten La Salle and Ateneo, which walloped Far Eastern U, 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, to improve to 5-1.

The Lady Eagles drew firepower from Alyssa Valdez and Angeline Gervacio, who combined for 37 points.

Sheila Pineda sparkled on both ends of the floor for Adamson, finishing with 20 points, including three service aces that went with 19 excellent digs. Pau Soriano contributed 17 hits on top of four blocks and Mayette Zapanta contributed 16 points for the Lady Falcons.

“We just want to recover from our earlier losses and its good that we have time to train during the break,” said Adamson coach Dulce Pante in Filipino.

Zapanta and Pineda joined forces in the deciding set, where the Lady Falcons pulled away from 3-all and all but wrapped up the match at 12-6.

Cai Nepomuceno had 21 hits and two blocks and rookie Myla Pablo made 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who have lost five straight to share sixth spot with University of the East.

In the other men’s game, La Salle smashed Ateneo, 25-23, 25-14, 25-12, to improve to 3-3, tying Adamson and UP for third.
