PVL: Yee sees improvement despite Petro Gazz’s 0-2 start

Petro Gazz is not having the best start in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference after it dropped its first two games of the tournament.

The Angels became the team with the worst record early in the conference after absorbing a five-set loss to Tacloban, 25-27, 27-25, 21-25, 14-25, 15-13, Wednesday.

That poor start, however, has not deterred head coach Jerry Yee a bit.

“What we saw earlier made us feel a little bit more relaxed because the players aren’t that much stressed or pressured,” said Yee in Filipino. “The coaching staff is still positive for the upcoming games.”

Compared to their performance against Creamline last Sunday where they fell in straight sets, the Angels were able to drag the Fighting Warays to a decider despite missing Estonian import Kadi Kullerkann due to injury.

Kullerkann sat the whole match due to a sore left knee and Yee said it would take five days before the Estonian international can get back to playing shape.

“We’re excited for the coming games because I really saw improvement from the first game,” said Yee, who relied on Anastasiia Trach and Stephanie Mercado who put up 27 and 20 points, respectively.
