Defending champion Kenneth Chua and Cebuano ace Jomar Jumapao led the parade of Filipinos that progressed to the finale of the PBF Pagcor Philippine International Open this weekend.
Chua, a silver medalist in the men’s singles during last year’s Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan, punctuated the men’s open qualifying rounds with 1522 pinfalls to lead the pack that will face the top foreign bowlers of the tournament come Sunday.
“I have never seen this kind of support from the bowling community before,” Chua said after grabbing the No. 1 spot from Jumapao the other night at Coronado Lanes at Starmall in Mandaluyong City.
The 26-year-old, however, only enjoys a narrow margin after Jumapao rolled a combined output of 1520.
