New look La Salle to play in Taiwan, Korea as part of UAAP buildup

La Salle’s preparation for the UAAP is kicking into high gear.

Newly-minted head coach Louie Gonzales said the Green Archers will go back to Taiwan this summer to play in the Buddha Light International Association (BLIA) Cup as they prepare for the 81st Season of the UAAP.

The Green Archers went on an undefeated 5-0 run in the offseason tournament last year with Ben Mbala and former head coach Aldin Ayo spearheading the team.

Gonzales said his team would need all the preparation it needs, as almost half of its roster is new to the team.

“This team, half of its players are new, and the more games we play it’d be better for us,” said Gonzales in Filipino Friday after their 83-51 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.

La Salle won’t be having the likes of Mbala, ABu Tratter and Ricci Rivero this time.

Gonzales said the Green Archers will also play in a pocket tournament in Korea wherein they will go against teams from Russia, United States, Japan, Taiwan, and the host country.
