Struggling Bulldogs, Gilas cadets clash; Tams, Blazers stake spotless records

It will be the turn of National University to test the mettle of the Gilas Cadets in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup on Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Bulldogs of coach Jamike Jarin sport a slightly better 1-3 record as against the 1-4 of the Nationals, who either lack practice or can’t compete its lineup.

“Many of the players are still with their mother teams, the school teams,” said Gilas Cadets coach Jong Uichico, whose youthful crew will go up against the Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

“We also have players taking on roles they are unfamiliar with like JJ Alejandro or even Ricci Rivero playing the point guard spot when it isn’t their natural position. They can play it in stretches or assist in running plays but not full time. It takes away from what they do well. But this is all part of the learning process. No excuses.”

Undefeated teams Far Eastern University (3-0) and College of St. Benilde (2-0) also collide at 12:30 p.m, followed by the 2:15 p.m. clash between winless squads Jose Rizal University (0-3) and University of Santo Tomas (0-2).

The One-on-One King of the Hardcourt pitting Ateneo rookie Jason Credo and San Sebastian’s Kevin Baytan will be held 4 p.m.

The day’s penultimate game will have Adamson making its tournament debut versus Letran at 4:30 p.m.
