Ravena says NLEX ‘can’t panic’ amid slide

NLEX has been in a rough patch in the early part of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup having lost four of its first five games.

It wasn’t the kind of start the Road Warriors had envisioned especially after coming off a semifinals run in the Philippine Cup.

And although the Road Warriors have been in a heap, rookie Kiefer Ravena said they shouldn’t be in panic but rather they should start playing with a sense of urgency.

“We can’t panic, we just have to work through this maybe what we should have is a sense of urgency more than panic,” said Ravena in Filipino after a 116-94 loss to GlobalPort Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“If you panic you won’t know what you’re supposed to do. We still have to be in control, we still have to be on top of our minds and think of the things we did when we won our first game, last conference, the things we did when we got to the semifinals.”

NLEX’ 22-point loss against the Batang Pier was its worst this conference, eclipsing the 123-103 setback it suffered at the hands of Columbian in its opening game.

Ravena said the Road Warriors have been trying to do too much instead of just letting the game come to them.

“I guess we’re trying too hard, we’re not having fun,” said Ravena. “We want to do so much and end up staying away from our system.”
