Just two days after expressing his desire to make roster changes, NLEX coach Yeng Guiao made his move.
In a post on Twitter, the Road Warriors said they are looking to acquire the services of big man Dave Marcelo from Blackwater in exchange for center Rabeh Al-Hussaini.
“A trade proposal has been submitted to the @pbaconnect for approval involving Rabeh Al-Hussaini for @BWEliteForce‘s Dave Marcelo,” the team announced on Friday.
Marcelo is a two-way player who can protect the paint and score from inside all the way to the perimeter as well.
Guiao said the 29-year-old Marcelo, a four-time NCAA champion as a vital part of the San Beda dynasty, has the potential to be one of NLEX’s “next generation” big men.
“Rabeh’s potential is great, but ours might not be the right system to maximize that potential. So this is a win-win situation. He can be better utilized in their team, while Dave Marcelo can be part of our future mainstays.”
Al-Hussaini only played a game for the Road Warriors this conference while Marcelo played five games for the Elite, averaging 2.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 block in 8.2 minutes per outing.
