Angela Lee retained her ONE atomweight title after scoring a unanimous decision victory over Mei Yamaguchi in the promotion’s Unstoppable Dreams card Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
This was Lee’s third straight title defense and her ninth consecutive win in as many bouts.
“It’s a huge night for me and my family, it’s not easy to do what we’re doing inside this cage,” said Lee who also referred to her younger brother Christian who lost to ONE featherweight and lightweight champion Martin Nguyen for the 145-pound strap earlier in the card.
“Martial arts fans and their love for the sport are the reason why we’re fighting. This is for you guys. Props to Mei Yamaguchi , she’s an amazing and very talented competitor.”
Lee had her first encounter with Yamaguchi in 2016 where they fought for the atomweight belt.
In the co-main event for the card, Thaiand’s Sam-A Gaiyanghadao won the inaugural ONE Super Series Muay Thai Flyweight World title after stopping The Netherlands’ Sergio Wielzen in the fourth round.
Gaiyanghadao hammered Wielzen with sharp elbows eventually scoring a knock down to which the Dutch never recovered and failed to beat the 10-count.
