PetroGazz was just starting to get its groove in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference after it snapped its three-game skid at the start of the tournament, but the Angels are not out of the woods yet.
The Angels and import Kadi Kullerkann have decided to part ways after the Estonian national aggravated her left knee injury.
Replacing Kullerkann is outside hitter Olena Lymareva-Flink, who will be joining fellow Ukrainian Anastasiia Trach in the Angels’ roster.
PetroGazz team manager Camille Cruz said the staff elected to call in an import who could help them in their reception, an area the 6-foot-4 Kullerkann had a difficulty playing.
“What the team lacks right now is the first ball, we already have attackers, so the priority was to get an import that can help us in our receives,” said Cruz in Filipino.
Lymareva-Flink stands at 5-foot-11 and the Angels hope the 25-year-old can help the ream in the reception department, where they have an efficiency rating of 34.01 percent making them the second-worst team in the league in terms of the statistic.
“It’s not that she doesn’t have the attacking skill, she already has the experience of playing professionally for four years,” said Cruz of Lymareva-Flink who already played in Turkey.
Kullerkann, who has already torn the ACL on her left knee twice, averaged 16 points in her three games with the Angels.
