By the time the 30th Southeast Asian Games happens, there will be at least 50,000 Filipino volunteers scattered in different playing venues across Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas said identifying and enlisting volunteers should begin in earnest as the Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) prepares for the one-year countdown celebration starting Nov. 30.
The volunteers will man the facilities and assist thousands of athletes, officials and delegates from the 11 participating countries during the two-week sportsfest.
“We need to train thousands to help us out,” said Vargas, who co-chairs Phisgoc with Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and Philippine Sports Commission Chair Butch Ramirez.
The Clark New City in Pampanga will be the main hub of the Games set Nov. 30 to Dec. 10, 2019.
