MANILA, Philippines— standout Mario Maglinao topped the premiere 21K race of the Nathan Ridge Run even as Irene Kipchumba overwhelmed the field in the women’s race at the Tagaytay Highlands recently.

The 23-year-old Maglinao, a native of Legazpi City, negotiated the tough, uphill course in one hour and 21 minutes to clinch top honors in the event that also promoted eco-friendly race practices.

A prominent figure in the local running circuit the past two years, Kipchumba, who hails from Kenya, shared the limelight with Maglinao, topping the distaff side by clocking 1:45:00.

James Tallam, who also ruled the national Milo Marathon recently, reigned supreme in the men’s 10K event after checking in at 45 minutes, while Miscelle Gilbuena ruled the women’s division in 49 minutes.

Mike Garin and Janette Lumidao topped their respective divisions in the 5k race.

Mount Makiling and Taal Lake, the opening of previously off-limit tracks, and our environmental advocacy brought a fresh approach to competitive road racing,” Nathan Performance Gear Brand Associate Mariel Flores said.
