MANILA, Philippines —NCAA Season 87 host Perpetual Help looks to continue its solid form in volleyball when competitions resume in January.
Both Perpetual Help’s men and women’s volleyball teams hold unbeaten records going into the Christmas break and NCAA president Anthony Tamayo is hoping for better things to come for the two leading squads.
The Lady Altas streaked to their seventh straight win last week to clinch the first semifinals berth.
“I wish our team the best of luck and perhaps new championships in the future,” said Tamayo. “May you foster the spirit of sportsmanship as well as humility while maintaining competitiveness.”
The Altas are also in strong title contention in high school volleyball this season.
“The school is behind them and supporting them,” said Tamayo.
Tamayo is hoping that “the success of their first semester hosting” continues next year.
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, I wish the league more success just like what we reaped when we hosted the first semester sports,” said Tamayo, who also chairs the league policy board.
Basketball—one of the more popular events in the league—was held during the first semester with San Beda winning the seniors and juniors divisions.
“Again to everyone, let us remember the reason for the season—celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. The best gift we could offer is the gift of love and harmony in the league,” Tamayo added.
