Tacloban bounced back from a disappointing loss took down Iriga-Navy  25-20, 25-22, 27-25, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Fighting Warays, who suffered a  25-14, 27-25, 26-24 defeat to  Creamline, stopped their two-game skid and improved to 3-3 to create a three-way tie at the fourth spot PayMaya and PetroGazz.

Despite the win, Tacloban head coach Nes Pamilar said he wants his players to stop their tendency of slowing down when handling a big lead.

“I told them that the game’s not yet over and they’re already relaxing,” said Pamilar in Filipino. “The first ball is gone so I just reminded them that this happened before and this was always our mistake.”

Tacloban held a 23-19 lead late in the third set after Kyle Negrito’s service ace but allowed Iriga-Navy to score four straight points for the 23-23 tie.

With the score tied at 25-25, Shola Alvarez bounced the ball off the Lady Oragons’ defense before Macy Ubben’s counter landed beyond the baseline.

Amporn led the Fighting Warays with 18 points while Patcharee Seangmuang, who replaced Sasiwimol Sangpan, added 11.

Ubben had 20 points to lead the last-placed Lady Oragons who now have a 1-5 record.
