Calvin Abueva missing from Alaska camp anew

Calvin Abueva has gone missing from Alaska’s reach for the second time this season.

Head coach Alex Compton said Saturday the Aces camp have not seen or heard from forward since the All-Star break despite their efforts to reach him.

“Calvin, I hope you’re okay,” said Compton at Smart Araneta Center after their 109-103 victory over Globalport in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

“He hasn’t shown up to practice since the All-Star break and we’ve been reaching out to him.”

This isn’t the first time Abueva went missing as he was also absent in the Aces’ and even the Gilas’ practice sessions in January and February.

As it turned out, Abueva was fixing his marriage when he went missing and Compton said the polarizing forward is embroiled in another personal problem this time around.

“He’s been going through personal issues, we just hope he’s safe and all right and I don’t actually have a whole lot of info other than that,” said Compton. “We’ve tried connecting but I think he’s sorting things out in his life.”

“This is our profession, we love it but it’s not the meaning of life. Life’s bigger than the game.”
