Adamson cagebelles rip La Salle for 8th win
MANILA, Philippines—Defending champion Adamson routed La Salle, 60-45, Tuesday and stretched its unbeaten run to eight games in the UAAP women’s basketball tournament at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Anna Buendia unloaded 19 points and last season’s MVP Amby Almazan scored 18 and 19 rebounds as the Lady Falcons strengthened their hold of the top spot.
The Lady Archers stayed at third at 5-3, while National U improved to 3-5 after ripping University of the East, 83-63, in the first game.
Jovelyn Mejia had a solid all-around game with 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and two steals, and Pamela Meneses posted 19 points and five assists for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Warriors stayed in the cellar at 0-8.
In juniors action, De La Salle Zobel and Far Eastern U boosted their Final Four bids with similar 6-4 slates after drubbing separate foes.
Alexander Torres and Joseph Tempongko combined for 45 points as the Junior Archers whipped the University of the Philippines (0-10), 97-72, while the Baby Tams plastered the Junior Warriors (1-9), 78-48.
