Two-way fight looms for S’woods title

CARMONA, CAVITE—American John Michael O’Toole and Jay Bayron came out of an enthralling shootout on Thursday sharing the lead heading into the final day of the $100,000-ICTSI Southwoods Championship at the complex’s Legends course here.

O’Toole carved out a six-under-par 66, while Bayron returned a 67 as the duo will take a 196 aggregate into the final 18 holes, the championship, and the $17,500-purse, now a virtual two-way fight.

The American had seven birdies under overcast skies, with his only bogey coming on the par-3 16th.

Korean-American Micah Shin fired a day-best 65 but was seven strokes off like Australia’s Tim Stewart, who assembled a 70.

Finland’s Teemu Putkonen was another two shots behind after a 70, with Angelo Que shooting a 69 to be at 206.

Jobim Carlos, who broke through as a pro at Riviera last week, also cracked par but his 68 left him still 11 shots out of the pace.
