BanKo notched the first win in the quarterfinals after dispatching Tacloban in straight sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Perlas Spikers started off the six-team round robin quarterfinals ahead at 1-0 while sending the Fighting Warays to the opposite.

Creamline and PayMaya finished as the top two seeds in the eliminations with 6-1 and 5-2 records, respectively, and received automatic berths to the semifinals.

Lakia Bright had a game-high 19 points to lead the Perlas Spikers while Jutarat Montripila and Nicole Tiamzon had 13 and 10 points, respectively.

BanKo finished its preliminary round campaign with a 3-4 record that featured four straight losses in the middle of its run.

“I think the players really wanted to shake off that poor form in the preliminaries,” said BanKo head coach Dong dela Cruz in Filipino. “They want to start the quarterfinals on a strong foot.”

Hyapha Amporn led Tacloban with 12 points with Jovielyn Prado and Patcharee Saengmuang combining for 16 points.
