Xterra triathlon returns to legazpi

The Xterra off-road triathlon returns to Legazpi City in Albay on Sunday as the elite field will be put to the test in the mountain biking and trail running stages.

The 28-kilometer bike course will be over wide and open trails while providing a breathtaking view of Mayon volcano and the closing eight-kilometer run will pass through rocky and sandy areas.

The 1.5-km swim will be a two-loop course in the shores of Embarcadero Blvd. The finish line is set at the famous Cagsawa Ruins.

Three-peat seeking Bradley Weiss once said that racing along the slopes of Mt. Mayon remains one of his most memorable experiences.
Also up are the duathlon (2km run-14km bike-4km run) and lite Xterra (750m swim-14km bike-4km run) events.

Summit in top shape for LPGT event

Despite the rains that battered a huge part of Luzon the past days, Summit Point in Lipa City remains in top championship shape for the Philippine Golf Tour’s The Women’s Championship firing off Wednesday.

The Robert Trent Jones Jr. creation will provide a stiff test for the crack international field in the P1.5-million event where Cyna Rodriguez, the former three-time Order of Merit winner, carries the fight for the Philippines.

Forty-four players from five countries are all primed up for the 54-hole tournament with powerhouse Thailand seeking a fifth win in the circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, Supakchaya Pattaranakrueang and Onkanok Soisuwan banner the 21-strong Thai contingent.
