MANILA, Philippines – The Corporate Games, deemed as the biggest corporate multi-sports festival, will finally include Manila in its calendar.
The sports festival which has held about 120 games held in five continents, 25 countries, 53 cities and with over 18,000 participating organizations and over 1,000,000 participants, will be from March 22 to 25, 2012 at the Rizal Sports Complex in Malate, Manila in partnership and cooperation agreement with the Philippine Sports Commission.
Speaking forAkiko Thomson Guevara for Philippine Sports Commission, Lorens Ziller of Multiplata Philippines said the Corporate Games Manila 2012 was expected to attract more than 10,000 participants from various organizations and corporations of the Philippines.
He added that employers, managers and sports enthusiasts may choose to join in the following Corporate Games sporting events: basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, running, cycling, bowling, swimming, billiards, poker, karting, dragon-boat, tug-of-war and golf.
The winners on a personal and team level will qualify to go the World Corporate Games 2012 which be held in Dubai November next year where winners of all 25 participating countries and special invitees from the rest of the world will claim for title as World Corporate Games champions, he added.
Among the Corporate Games patrons are Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa and Nobel Prize winner; Francois Mitterand, former President of the French Republic; Mahathir Mohamed, Prime Minister of Malaysia; Jaques Delors, former President of the European Community Commission; Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of United Kingdom, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan; His Excellency Antonio Samaranch, President of the Olympic Committee; Sir Alex Ferguson, manager of United Football Club. For the Philippines, Akiko Thomson Guevara, former Olympic swim champion and Commissioner of the PSC has been named as one of the Games patrons. (advt)
