14-year-old Spanish motorbike rider dies after crash

BARCELONA, Spain — A 14-year-old Spanish motorbike rider has died from injuries sustained while competing in a Moto3 junior world championship race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.

His team FIM CEV Repsol says that Andreas Perez died on Monday in a hospital where he was taken after the accident.

Spanish news agency Europa Press says that Perez was run over by several bikes after he fell during the race.

The same track will host a MotoGP race next weekend.
