Petro Gazz routed Tacloban, 25-15, 25-17, 25-21, Wednesday night to reboot its semifinal bid in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at FilOil Flying V Center.

Olena Lymareva-Flink banged in 22 points, including six aces, as the Angels avenged their elimination round defeat to the Fighting Warays.

The Ukrainian hitter pounded from all angles and threw off the usually decent defensive pattern of Tacloban, which is now in danger of getting eliminated after suffering its second defeat in the quarterfinals.

“We are all set to win our remaining four games because we really want to enter the semifinals,” said Lymareva-Flink. “In the third set we got a tough time but I think these girls need to relax a little bit. Overall it was a good game.”

Lymareva-Flink was referring to that sudden dip in Petro Gazz’s game midway through the third when it allowed Tacloban to come back from a 7-12 deficit to even take the driver’s seat at 15-14.

But Angels middle blocker Cherry Nunag negated that by firing three straight points to right the ship.

“That’s what I really like about my teammates, it’s like we’ve been playing together for a long time,” said Lymareva-Flink who got the lion’s share of the Chie Saet’s 24 excellent sets.
