Navotas and Manila picked up impressive wins in the new Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup Saturday night at San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
The Clutch leaned on new recruit Levy Hernandez and mainstay Rey Publico to beat the Pasay Voyagers, 83-75, while the Stars rallied from a double-digit deficit to beat the Bataan Risers, 89-82.
Hernandez scored 26 points while Publico added 22 points and nine rebounds.
Manila overcame a 10-point hole in the third quarter behind Adrian Celada and Aris Dionisio.
